John Ternus, who currently leads hardware engineering, will take over as CEO, and he will become Executive Chairman. As the iPhone manufacturer prepares for a shift in the industry driven by artificial intelligence, Apple has appointed longtime hardware chief John Ternus as its next CEO. Since joining Apple in 2001, Ternus has been in charge of the company’s hardware engineering initiatives and has been instrumental in reviving sales of items like Apple’s Mac computers, which have lately increased their market share.
