Fourteen people have died as a result of the boiler explosion in Singhanterai, Chhattisgarh.Yesterday, a boiler tube at a Vedanta Ltd. power facility in Singhanterai village, Sakti district,exploded.
According to Sakti Superintendent of Police, workers suffered severe burns when a strongexplosion happened in a conduit that supplied high-pressure steam from the boiler to theturbine at around 2:30 pm. He reported that some forty workers were hurt and taken toseveral hospitals in the nearby districts of Raigarh and Bilaspur, while four workersimmediately perished. It is said that at least fifteen of the injured are in critical condition.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed sorrow at the accident’s fatalities. He declaredthat the next of kin of each deceased person would get two lakh rupees ex gratia from thePrime Minister’s National Relief Fund, while the injured would receive fifty thousand rupees.He also hoped that the afflicted would heal quickly.
In addition to expressing his sorrow over the disaster, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Saiannounced that each deceased worker’s family would receive 5 lakh rupees, while thoseinjured would receive 50,000 rupees. Additionally, he gave the Commissioner of the Bilaspurdivision instructions to look into the disaster.
A separate magisterial investigation into the accident has been mandated by the districtadministration. The administration has been instructed to examine safety regulations andguarantee that the injured are treated appropriately.
