
At least 6 crude bombs explode at crossroads in Dhaka’s Jatrabari, Bangladesh
Several crude bombs went off at a crossroad in Dhaka’s Jatrabari Saturday evening, September 19, a day after similar explosions were reported near the Jatrabari Police Station. One rickshaw puller was injured in the latest incident, local reports said.
Four crude bombs exploded around 7:30pm in front of Samad Super Market at Jatrabari Chourasta, an internal police report said. Reports said, the injured rickshaw puller has been identified as 32-year-old Billal. Police are investigating who was behind the explosions.
Three busses torched in the Dhaka
The latest blasts come amid separate incidents of arson in Dhaka. Reports said three busses were set on fire at different locations in the capital on Saturday nite. Two of the reported incidents were in Mirpur-1 and Mirpur-11.
The incidents came after a series of crude bomb explosions were reported in Dhaka on Friday after Jumma prayers. There were reports of explosions in places such as Malibagh, Mohakhali, Agargaon and Jatrabari. Friday’s Jatrabari incidents injured at least one person.

Security in Dhaka tightened
Following the incidents, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has beefed up security in the capital. Police stepped up roadblocks, searches, surveillance and mobile, foot and motorcycle patrols at important roads, intersections and entry points to Dhaka.
The DMP said special security arrangements would be made to maintain law and order and the safety of the public. As part of the beefed up security arrangements, Detective Branch, Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit and Armed Police Battalion teams were also deployed.
Police are still investigating the blasts and fires. Those behind the latest Jatrabari blasts have not been publicly named by the authorities.
