New Delhi, 27 September, 2026: Consumers planning to buy air conditioners (ACs), LED TVs, refrigerators or washing machines before the festive season may have to shell out more. The largest consumer electronics companies are readying to raise their product prices by 5% to 8%.
“We’re hearing from companies that they have to raise prices because of higher input costs. Cost pressures have also been experienced in terms of crude oil and in the prices of key raw materials and components such as copper, aluminum, steel and plastic.
Besides higher input costs, companies are also facing increased freight and logistics cost. Movements in foreign exchange rates have also put additional pressure on manufacturing and import costs.
The proposed price hike may affect a wide range of consumer electronics and household appliances like air conditioners, LED televisions, refrigerators and washing machines.
This would be the third price hike this year by consumer electronics companies, which would further add to the financial burden on consumers ahead of the festive shopping season.
Festive demand tends to rise during this period and if companies go ahead with the planned hikes, consumers looking to buy new appliances could face higher prices.
