Today, benchmark domestic equities indices recovered and ended the day about 0.5 percent higher. The BSE Sensex closed at 74,650, up 383 points. The NSE Nifty closed at 23,484 after gaining 101 points.The National Stock Exchange’s overall market concluded in a positive zone as well. The Smallcap 100 index increased by 0.4%, while the Midcap 100 index increased by 0.2%. Due to geopolitical tensions in West Asia, markets opened earlier today with a gap-down. However, value purchases and declining crude oil prices helped both indices bounce back from early losses in the second half of the afternoon.

Twenty of the thirty companies in the Sensex pack reported advances in their shares. Among the top achievers, TCS increased by more over 6.5%, Infosys increased by about 5.7%, and HCL Tech increased by almost 4.1%. Axis Bank fell more than 1.7%, PowerGrid lost 1.4%, and NTPC plummeted 2.9%.Nineteen of the twenty-five sectors in the BSE’s sectoral indices saw advances at the end. With a rise of 4.4%, the IT industry was the best performer, followed by Focused IT, which increased by more than 3.8%. Additionally, consumer durables increased by more than 1.2%.

With drops of 0.6% apiece, Power and Utilities were the underperformers with the biggest losses. Financial Services and Oil and Gas lost over 0.2%, while Healthcare fell by 0.4%.With shares of 2,301 companies rising, 1,904 declining, and 172 remaining constant, the BSE’s overall market breadth was positive.
