For the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026–2027, Bharat Coking Coal Limited has announced a program that offers consumers in the electricity sector a cash discount and a relaxation of the Performance Incentive (PI).

According to the Ministry of Coal, all qualified power sector customers covered by Fuel Supply Agreements—including those covered by the Flexi-Linkage scheme—will be eligible for the program. It stated that the incentives will be based on the percentage of coal offtake against the quarterly quantity under specified slabs and will be connected to real coal offtake by rail, road, and road-cum-rail modes.

After Iran announced the reopening of Hormuz, global equity markets surged.

The Ministry further stated that PI will only be imposed on raw coal in accordance with current FSA regulations under the scheme for coal offtake below 120% of Quarterly Quantity, and no Cash Discount will be accepted. The program aims to lower costs for the power industry, increase coal offtake, and improve logistics efficiency. No suggestions for “offtake,”
